Wellington Route (Gold)
The Taunton Flyer 'Wellington' route starts and finishes at Hemyock. It covers a total distance of approximately 111 miles (178 km) with 5400 ft (1650 m) of climbing. This route is the toughest of the three options and will start by taking you down through the stunning Culm Valley to Willand. You will then follow beautiful quiet country lanes through Clyst Hydon, Talaton and Escot to bring you out to the old A30 at Fairmile. From here you will head up into the Blackdown Hills via the challenging slopes of Greenhill Way! You will then pass RAF Dunkeswell and descend back to Hemyock. You will then climb into the Blackdown Hills before descending down through Corfe to Taunton Racecourse. From here you will head out on a pretty flat loop through the Somerset Levels, past RNAS Merryfield (Ilton) and RAF Westonzoyland. Finally you will return up into the Blackdown hills, past the historic wartime airfields of Culmhead, Upottery (Smeatharpe), and Dunkeswell before heading back to Hemyock to finish.
