Welcome to the website for the Taunton and Musgrove Flyer – Taunton’s park and ride services.
Travel in style from Silk Mills straight into the heart of the
town. Buses go every six minutes in the rush hour and every 10-12
throughout the
day, Monday to Saturday. Musgrove Flyer every 20-30 minutes throughout the day.
For visitors to Musgrove Park Hospital we now operate a dedicated Musgrove Flyer bus every 20 minutes off peak and half hourly during rush hour, Monday to Friday and stops right outside the Queens building.
Just £1.50 and free parking.

Site facilities
Silk Mills Park and Ride Site.
The Silk Mills park and ride site is situated on the edge of Taunton and is particularly convenient for West Somerset drivers. Just follow the signs!
There's a 600-space free car park and a manned-security and information centre, with public conveniences. Town centre buses leave every six minutes in the rush hour and 10-12 minutes throughout the day.
Musgrove Hospital buses run every 20-30 minutes between 6:30am and 5:55pm.
Secure Bike Lockers are also available at a cost of £5 per 10 week period. Please contact Transporting Somerset at transport@somerset.gov.uk.
The 12-acre site is currently being landscaped to create an urban wildlife park. There will be native trees, ponds and wildflower meadows accessed via paths for walkers and cyclists.

600 Free Car Park Spaces
There’s free car parking for 600 vehicles at the Silk Mills site,
next to the new road bridge spanning the main railway line.
Taunton Flyer has been awarded the Park Mark.

Disabled Access
Buses for everyone.
The purpose-built car park has designated disabled parking bays, giving people plenty of space to get in and out of their vehicles.
The buses have low floors, making it easier to get on and off.
There’s plenty of room on board, which also makes the buses ideal for passengers with child buggies.

From Silk Mills to Town Centre:
First Bus: 7.30am
7:30am until 9am; every 6 minutes (every 10 minutes Saturdays)
9am until 4pm; every 12 minutes
4pm until 6pm; every 6 minutes (every 10 minutes Saturdays)
and on Mondays to Fridays also at 6:15pm, 6:45pm, 7:15pm
From Town Centre to Silk Mills:
7:40am until 9:10am; every 6 minutes (every 10 minutes Saturdays)
9:10am until 4pm; every 12 minutes
4pm until 6:05pm; every 6 minutes (every 10 minutes Saturdays)
Last bus Saturdays; 6:15pm
And on Mondays to Fridays also at 6:30pm*, 7:00pm* and

*note; these journeys run via Musgrove Park Hospital instead of SCAT

Flyer Buses
State-of-the-art buses
A fleet of six new, state-of-the-art buses are painted in a distinctive livery.
Manufactured by Optare, they’re the only buses to win a Design Council Award.
The 37-seater, low-floor vehicles are easy to access and offer a comfortable ride and plenty of space for bags and children’s buggies.

How do I book a bike locker?
Bike lockers can be booked in advance at a cost of £5 per 10 week period. For security reasons hirers must provide their own padlock. Bike locker hire is subject to availability, please contact Transporting Somerset for full details - contact (link required)

When can I book?
Tickets can be bought on the day of travel direct from the driver of the Taunton or Musgrove Flyer. Or they can be bought in advance - we offer a range of tickets, including an annual season ticket. Full details can be found on the Fares and Group Discounts pages.

What are your prices?
Taunton Flyer offers great value for money. The standard adult fare is just £1.50 and includes free parking. The full range of fares - including flexible passes and annual season tickets - can be viewed by selecting the Fares link.

Does Taunton or Musgrove Flyer offer insurance?
Insurance is purchased by the company in accordance with our legal responsibility. All legal liabilities to third parties, to include damage to property and personal injury are covered.
There is no insurance cover provided for loss, damage or injury where the bus company has not been negligent. Personal travel insurance would provide passengers with such cover.

Each Taunton Flyer bus has:
- 37 seats

What is your luggage policy?
Luggage is carried at the passenger's own risk. Luggage will only be carried if the passenger/owner is present on the journey. Our drivers reserve the right to refuse to carry any item considered to be too large, heavy, bulky, fragile, oddly shaped or is deemed suspicious, dangerous or liable to cause injury, in accordance with PCV Regulations.
Please note that we will only carry passenger's personal luggage, not commercial goods. If you are unsure that the item you wish to carry complies with the terms outlined above, please contact us for clarification.

Do your buses take wheelchairs?
Every one of our low-floor buses will be able to carry a wheelchair. Though we must stress that we can only carry one open wheelchair per bus.

Can I take my dog?
Dogs are allowed to be carried, but at the owner's own risk. They are carried on condition that they are clean, on a leash, under proper control and do not cause inconvenience or annoyance to other passengers. They MUST NOT be placed on passenger seats. The owner will be responsible for any injury caused to another passenger through failure to comply with these conditions.

The purpose-built car park has designated disabled parking bays, giving people plenty of space to get in and out of their vehicles. The buses have low floors, making it easier to get on and off. For more information please see the view the Disabled Access page here.
